INVISALIGN

Invisalign treatment is a virtually invisible way to align teeth. Using advanced 3D computerized imaging technology, a complete treatment plan is made, from the starting position of your teeth to the desired end position. Transparent aligners are custom-made to move your teeth gradually.

Each aligner is worn for approximately 1-2 weeks before being replaced by the next, and the teeth gradually move towards the projected final position. The treatment time depends on your specific needs and will be determined by the orthodontist.

How does Invisalign work?

Invisalign aligners move teeth following a series of carefully controlled and scheduled movements. Therefore, at each stage only the movement of certain teeth is allowed, following an Invisalign treatment plan for that particular stage.

How long does Invisalign treatment last?

The duration of treatment depends on its complexity and is generally comparable to that of traditional brackets. Our orthodontists will give you more detailed information.

What are the advantages of Invisalign?

Invisalign aligners are virtually invisible and hardly anyone will notice that they are straightening your teeth.

Because Invisalign aligners are removable, during treatment you can eat and drink everything you want by simply removing the aligners. You can also remove the aligners to brush and floss to maintain your usual oral hygiene routine. It is recommended to wear them for at least 22 hours a day.

Unlike traditional fixed appliances, these devices do not carry wires or metal brackets

The Invisalign system allows you to view the results and treatment plan virtually before you begin, so you can see what your teeth are expected to look like at the end of treatment.

Is Invisalign treatment painful?

Some people may experience temporary and mild discomfort for a few days when they put on a new aligner at the beginning of each new phase of treatment. This is normal. Patients describe a feeling of pressure. It’s a sign that the aligners are working and usually disappears in a couple of days.

Is it necessary to use retainers after the invisalign treatment?

It is important to use a retainer after any orthodontic treatment because it keeps the teeth stable in their new positions. For your teeth to maintain your ideal position, it is best to wear the retainer as instructed by our team of orthodontists. In many cases the last aligner will be the temporary retainer until the retention option is determined.

What is the best way to clean aligners?

The best way to clean the aligners is to brush and rinse them in warm water and using Invisalign cleaning crystals or special cleaning tablets. It is important to brush your teeth well after each meal and before putting the aligners back on to maintain good oral hygiene.

Are there any dietary restrictions while following this treatment?

No. Unlike traditional wire and bracket devices, with the Invisalign system one can eat whatever he wants because aligners are taken off to eat and drink. It also allows you to brush your teeth and floss after each meal before putting on the aligners again, so that the patient maintains their usual oral hygiene routine. It is recommended to wear the aligners for at least 22 hours a day.

How often do aligners have to be worn?

Aligners must be worn for as long as the treatment lasts except for eating, brushing your teeth, and flossing. It is recommended to wear the aligners for at least 22 hours a day to comply with the Invisalign treatment plan.

Do aligners affect speech?

The vast majority of patients do not refer to any difficulty in speaking. However, as with traditional braces, there is an initial adjustment period because you have a new element in your mouth.

Can I smoke while wearing the aligners?

Smoking is discouraged while wearing aligners because they may become stained or discolored.

Can you chew gum while wearing the aligners?

Chewing gum is discouraged while wearing aligners because it can get stuck in them. It is recommended to take them off every time you eat something.
